Overall Development Approach
- Finalise draft plan & discuss same with
Local Community, Cork Co. Council, Fas, IRD Duhallow, Boherbue National School,
Boherbue Comprehensive School.
- Amend plan as appropriate following discussion
process.
- Mobilize Local Community behind amended
plan.
The Build Environment
- Tar & line Church car park, power wash
walls.
- Discuss replacement of plastic drink signs
with public houses
- Identify buildings that need attention &
put action plan in place.
- Implement Year 2002 part of action plan.
- Investigate possibility of CLAR program
funding, since Boherbue is now within the CLAR region.
- Brick wall entrance to graveyard needs urgent
attention.
- Move "Boherbue" sign at football pitch to
Derrleigh Cross.
- Move "Boherbue" sign at Telecom exchange to
open area owned by Andrew O'Connor on Mallow road.
Landscaping
- Put plan in place to ensure that grassed areas
at McAuliffe Avenue, children's playground & graveyard are cut
regularly.

- Railing near road at upper end of
McAuliffe Avenue.
- Spray green area on roadside outside Michael
O'Connor's house in Laharn & also area across from Telecom exchange on
Mallow road.
- Organise residents team to enhance visual
appearance of McAuliffe Avenue.
- Request Co. Council to tar car park at
graveyard.
Wildlife & Natural Amenities
- Identify & implement project for Primary
school in cooperation with pupils & teachers.
- Identify & implement project for
Comprehensive school in cooperation with pupils & teachers.
Litter Control
- Divide village into different areas &
appoint "litter champion" in each area.
- Formulate & implement Litter Action Plan
in conjunction with "litter champions".
- Relocate litter bins around the village to
reflect areas with litter problems.
Tidiness
- Formulate & implement action plan for weed
control on footpaths & other public areas.
- Investigate application & implement
Derelict Site Act 1990 as appropriate locally.
- Attend to machinery in areas near Garda
Station.
Residential Areas
- Identify public locations for floral
decoration.
- Formulate & implement coordinated floral
plan.
- Request a footpath from Co. Council between
Vaughan's terrace & village
Roads, Streets & Back Areas
- Paint walls of GAA grounds.
- Agree trimming plan for hedgerows on approach
roads with Cork Co. Council.
General Impression
- Start taking photographs to record baseline
for 5 year plan.
- It will be obvious in 2002 that Boherbue
intends to be a serious player in the Tidy Towns Competition in future
years.
